Background

The University of St. Andrews campus is located in the historic county of Fife, Scotland, UK. Teaching at this institution began in 1410, making it one of the oldest universities not just in Scotland, but also in the English-speaking world.

There is a library, places to eat/drink, a gym and other sports facilities, and a variety of Student Services departments (see: Student Services | University of St Andrews (st-andrews.ac.uk))

For the first semester of the academic year 2021 to 2022, we had 10,425 students:

  • 8,260 undergraduates
  • 2,164 postgraduates

This means that campus can be very busy at times.

We have students from a wide variety of different backgrounds and cultures. For 2021 entry we received applications from 179 different countries.

How could this affect me?

Our campus is bigger than you might be used to at School or College and getting lost is common for new students and when timetables change. Becoming familiar with key buildings and locations may help you to prepare.

We are here to help you discover St Andrews and support you throughout the application process. For now, we are mainly running our events online, which allows you access to more events on a much greater range of topics. For further details see: Meet us – Study at St Andrews – University of St Andrews (st-andrews.ac.uk)
